This Week's Dom's Digest

This week was my birthday week, so as I approach the big 40 I got quite reflective over my last 20 or so years being a business owner.

Being able to build a life for my family and working with some of the most talented entrepreneurs in the country on building businesses that really help people (and realise a hefty profit!) has been a real delight for me.

I hope you get time to reflect similarly. It’s something I need to do more of.

It’s also been an interesting week - I came across a genuine conman.

I don’t want to go into specifics now (if you see me at an event I’ll fill you in) and luckily no damage was done, but it did hit home what I always tell people.

Don’t take people on their world about things - do your due diligence before you part with your money. You work hard for it, don’t give it away so easily!

Anyway, back to normal business…

Here is this week’s Dom’s Digest, full of cool things I’m interested in that I think could be fun or helpful for you.

Book For A Simple Life

Simplify: How the Best Businesses in the World Succeed

You will probably have heard of Richard Koch by one of his other books in the 80/20 principle series.

I’ve always used the basis of the principle in most of my business life with really good results so when Richard released a book on simplifying your business it was easy to add to my library.

I hate complication and am forever trying to rid it from my business and my clients businesses so this book has been very useful.

Inside it has case studies from some of the most famous firms of the last hundred years, from finance to fast food.

This enlightening book shows how to analyse any company's potential to simplify, and enrich the world.

If you feel that your business is “too” complicated (and I’ll bet it is!) then this book is worth a read.

A Gadget to Enhance My AirPods

Soft Silicone Antislip Ear Hook Apple AirPods

I love my Apple Airpods, but they are slippery little blighters!

If like me; anytime you went to the gym, ran or even turned your head a little too much you found one had popped out and was now hurtling toward the hard floor, then this is for you.

I came across these purely by accident, but they do make quite a difference.

Basically they are three sizes of interchangeable soft, silicone earbuds providing maximum comfort and a secure hold.

They slip over the top of your Airpods and ensure a snug fit without impairing the hearing quality.

Really useful and worth keeping with your Airpods for when you might do a little more than some light nodding :).

Finally A Really Good Subscription Box

Hunt a Killer

From a marketing stand point these guys have nailed it.

From the intriguing and terrifying tagline that says “WHAT IF A SERIAL KILLER DELIVERED A PACKAGE TO YOUR DOORSTEP EACH MONTH?

To the actual product concept of a high production subscription based murder mystery.

It’s highly addictive with rich stories and immersive gameplay.

I honestly don’t want to spoil it, so check out their website instead and you’ll see what I mean.

As always, I love getting your feedback on Twitter and email. Did you have a favourite from the list? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for me to try?

Don’t be shy, let me know. Just send a tweet to @dcb_jones with #DomsDigest at the end so I can find it or you can email me at dominicj@barttech.co.uk to get in touch.

Have a great week!
