This Week's Dom's Digest
This week we are halfway through our Black Friday promotions and it’s been busy!
Good busy, mind you. But long days…
If you’ve bagged yourself a bargain - well done! I hope you love your purchase. My team and I are very grateful to serve you.
If you haven’t, don’t despair there is still a little time if you are looking for IT support for your business, but you’ll need to get in touch quick to use your discount.
I’ve also been convinced by the team to offer something new in the next few weeks to help business owners kick start 2019 with a sales bang!
If this sounds like something you want to do, let me know and I’ll send you more details in a week or so. I’m basically going to hold your hand through the marketing and sales process so you can get that order pipeline full and start 2019 properly.
Anyway let’s focus on today. Here is your current Dom’s Digest. A quick snapshot list of interesting stuff I’m enjoying or thinking about right now.
Manfrotto LED Light with Lumimuse, 8 LED - Black
This ultra-portable light is super bright and rechargeable. It has filters and easily clips onto my tripod or camera for easy use.
A lot of my videos are filmed in sunny climates which is awesome for backdrop scenery, but can be a headache with shadows and dark spots where the light balance isn’t easy to solve.
This version has 8 LEDs and a selectable brightness so you can get the balance just right.
It’s so travel friendly I can even pack it in my pocket.
If you find your filming seems a little dark, then this lifesaver could really help you out.
Audible is by far one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
It’s Amazon’s audiobook subscription. It offers monthly credits for audiobooks at an incredibly cheap price.
I quite often let a few month’s credits accumulate then wait for their 2 for 1 deals to get even more bang for my buck!
If you’d like to consume more books, but find time is the problem (like me), then audiobooks are a great solution. I download them and listen whilst I’m travelling or exercising. If you don’t like the book, you can easily return it and use the credit on another title.
And in my opinion Audible has one of the most extensive catalogues of Audiobooks (it is owned by Amazon after all) so you’re sure to find something of interest every month.
If you sign up before the 14th of December Audible are offering a 50% discount for the first 4 months. Click here to take a look.
Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek
Really understanding your why - the reason that drives you in business (and life), is probably the most important motivator you could ever possess.
It’s the thing that makes you push on when things get tough.
The problem is, too many people I meet don’t have this properly defined. They have a rough idea or they choose what they think they should use, either through social pressure or guilt.
But your “why” is personal because what really drives you is individual and requires deep thought to uncover.
In this book, Simon Sinek explains the framework needed for businesses to move past knowing what they do to how they do it, and then to ask the more important question-WHY?
I find that this time of year is a great moment to re-read this book to refocus on why I do what I do. Hint: It can change over time depending on your circumstances.
If you’ve not read this book, I highly recommend you take a look.
As always, I love getting your feedback on Twitter and email. Did you have a favourite from the list? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for me to try?
Don’t be shy, let me know. Just send a tweet to @dcb_jones with #DomsDigest at the end so I can find it or you can email me at dominicj@barttech.co.uk to get in touch.
Have a great week!
