Are You Proactive Or Reactive With Your IT?

A good IT support company will be proactive, and it’s their job to do that for you.

Not only will they offer monitoring services, so that they can detect problems before they become large issues,  but they will offer  this on a 24/7 service, so that they are working hard to make sure that the impact of IT problems is minimised for you.

Think of it as a ‘Spidey Sense’.

The right IT support company will make you aware of any imminent threats, problems or issues, BEFORE they occur… which is better than AFTER, right?

They should also be practiced in the advice they give you. They should make sure that the advice they provide is tailored to your specific environment and network, and should be benefit-led based on how it can enhance and help you work more productively, save you money, or actually save you time.

Unfortunately, getting great advice is one of the biggest problems when choosing an IT support provider. Many companies have their own preferred hardware suppliers, or have promotional-based sales targets, rather than actually considering the right solution for you!

Therefore, you should always choose a provider who works on a consultative basis, rather than a pushy sales basis. When using an unsuitable IT support provider bad advice always crops up at some point, and normally ends up putting your business at risk and costing them money, or worse, loss of data.

When it comes to checking computers, servers and network devices for faults on a proactive basis, it is typically done with a small piece of software installed on each machine, which reports back to a central monitoring station when certain thresholds and technical flags are raised. This should then be escalated to an engineer to assist in resolving them before they become bigger issues.

Make sure your IT support provider can prove they offer a proactive service.
